Rosie
Morgan

After a few years of life drawing and studying with the Open College of Arts while her four children arrived, Rosie went to Wimbledon School of Art when her youngest child started nursery. She was there for six years from Foundation, through BA (Painting) and MA (Drawing).

Born and raised in London, she moved with her family to West Sussex in 2003, where she began painting portraits to commission. The enforced times of isolation during the pandemic gave her the opportunity to reassess her work and study with first-rate tutors who began teaching online.

Her work takes inspiration from many sources, particularly literature, memory, family life and history. Sometimes incorporating vintage or everyday ephemera, her process involves building up and then excavating the surface, adding and subtracting, experimenting and exploring. Her principal materials are oil and acrylic paint, drawing media and collage.
